A. We Are Already There

We are actually there, but the old ways

are keeping us from really being there.

The know-how, the means, the technology is already out there. Look for, first, low tech, low cost, low maintenance, that is in sync with nature, learned from nature, such as, the art and science of bio-mimicry.

Food: after years of experience, connecting to nature and developing know-how, organic gardening & organic farming done locally everywhere can feed everyone; look at permaculture, soil-based vertical, skyscraper or stack farming, recycling food waste to feed the soil (composting, vermiculture, bokashi). The solution is a combination of diverse and distributed production of foods, as well as, more widespread fermentation of foods and beverages. Food waste and organic waste, in general, must be recycled back to the soil for not just nutrients, but especially for replenishing and building organic content matter.

Today, we produce food that can feed everyone an average of 3 pounds (1.4 kg) per day per person. So why do people starve? Because they don't have the money. Businesses will not always give away unsold food because of liability and fears of devaluing their future earnings. And we waste so much edible foods: uneaten, expired/rotted, unsold and thrown out, and not sellable because of blemishes and farmers not practicing gleaning (the notifying and allowing of people on their farms post-harvest, to have access to unsellable but perfectly edible or preservable or fermentable produce).

Water: look at water condensation from the air (biomimicy design from nature's Nigerian desert beetle); recycle water with ceramics, clay, filtration methods and microorganisms.

Waste: all waste are resources that can be reconverted, reverted, recycled, reused, reduced and/or returned to nature; microorganisms are necessary to nature's process.

Automation Replacing Jobs

In the old ways, people compete with machines.

In the next era, machines complement off & on,

from the growing, picking and delivering of food,

to producing, recycling, maintaining and repairing all else.

Gardening and farming would still be done by the interested,

but any automation is done in sync with nature.

Driverless Vehicles

In the old ways, 30,000 die yearly in car accidents, but many want to keep control of driving, and there's fear that driverless cars will be controlled by those with power--identities are tracked since users pay electronically.

In the next era, driverless vehicles are not identified with users, no payment necessary; vehicles not in use by one user, is easily available to another; no parking issues as it's continuously going to where it's needed; and those who want to drive can do so, especially at closed looped racing venues. For long-distance, look at 'evacuated tube transport.'

Distributed Production

where most everything is grown, made or sourced nearby

Food: local or home organic gardening and organic farming

in yards, lots, streets (fruit bearing trees), walls, terraces,

greenhouses, rooftops, skyscrapers, window farming, etc.

Water: condensation (water from the air), rain barrels,

water capturing methods, wastewater recycling, etc.

Tools, devices, hardware (e.g., 3D Printing), cooperative use

Energy: Tesla methods, river current, wave energy capturing, thermal differential methods, geothermal, solar, wind, gym-generated (people exercising with machines that generate electric power to battery storage units), etc.

B. Concepts Necessary While

In The Old Ways

Terms necessary to counter the damages of avarice:

Sustainable - to control and maintain a rate or level of consumption to avoid depletion of natural resources, a necessity in a ravenous, profit & greed driven world.

The term is subject to being highjacked for control,

fabricating scarcity, manipulating perceptions and pricing.

But worst, sustainability is an uphill effort when the old ways persistently demands infinite consumption.

Instead, be 'in sync with nature', in empathy with nature, while living and doing, allowing for the dynamics of the ups and downs, self-correcting and self-balancing.

(Self-empathy allows you to connect to your body's needs, reactions and subtle changes and nuances, making it more possible to not over-consume and to better fulfill and satiate oneself.)

And by doing away with ownership, the need for infinite consumption dissipates.

Fairness - requiring a sense of appropriate disbursement, appropriate judging, when scarcity, taking, fighting and exclusion is the norm.

Instead, 'access' and open participation

prevents the sense of scarcity

the sense of being excluded or denied.

Equality - a desire for equal treatment and opportunity when differences are used to exclude, divide, and suppress

for power and control.

Instead, by 'behavior empathic'

open to be inclusive, appropriate to individuals,

not to norms, not to standard etiquette.

Justice (forceful and vengeful) - the want for retribution and punishment; for a sense of justification of all the wrongdoing.

Instead, 'live and let live'

understand through self-empathy and

conscious awakened empathy for compassion & forgiveness.

There will be injustices (especially when pain and death is involved), but justice for revenge, retribution and even spite (over slight offenses), will dissipate to justice by empathic means.

C. To Continue To Operate Society

How things may turn out after the old ways end,

cannot be accurately predicted, of course.

But some things can be surmised,

and some thoughts here may or may not occur, accordingly,

or may occur in a completely unfathomable,

unthinkable and out-of-the-box fashion

that cannot be perceived of

while still in the old ways.

Infrastructure and Community Connectedness

The Subway Transportation Workers Example:

When all means of exchange is stopped,

most may leave, but some will stay on,

and non-employees may show up,

because they had a lifelong passion,

and bring ideas, participation and synergy,

to continually bring about an advancing subway system.

Some stay

many leave

some come back

automation, robotization

Every building is to generate power using energy in sync with nature (today, buildings are energy and resource black holes). Every building would condense and capture and recycle water. Every building would recycle all waste, including wastewater and food waste. Every building can grow food even if just a little. Streets may provide edible fruit bearing trees and may have mechanisms for accessing and/or capturing the fruits.

to food grown in layers: home, apartment, yard, garden, community plots, local skyrises, local farms, supplementing and complementing with foods from other communities, near and far. But every community produces more than enough food for its people, visitors and travelers.

to fermenting, pickling and preserving foods and beverages using microorganisms; at home, by community group activities, by enthusiasts, by those passionate about it: pickled fruits, vegetables, roots; yogurt, cheeses, beer, wine, cider, mead, vinegar, condiments, and so on and so forth. Fermented foods and beverages replenish our body's healthy levels of microbial diversity and population, as well as, provide rich nutrients, beside the rich variety of tastes, smells and textures. It is, also, our main source of healthier alcoholic drinks and various nutrient-rich and microbe-rich beverages (kefir, yogurt drinks, cider, fermented fruit and vegetable juices, kombucha, etc.)

D. The Disciplined Organized Services (DOS)

Operating by the Highest Code

For life, liberty and pursuits in happiness,

the highest code is the upholding

of individual freedom, self-empathy & empathy;

of liberty by never compromising it for security;

and of vigilance against the old human ways

(of ownership, means of exchange,

leadership over others &

excessive competition).

Disciplined - in a very or extremely free society, there will

be people who will want a structured and disciplined life

beyond some occasional or infrequent effort.

Organized - structured, formal, providing a disciplined and

orderly way of conducting oneself with others of similar

Services - servicing the community, society, all of life.

Every community or region would have their own DOS but not in isolation and not centralized, and among their various functions, would be upholding the highest code.

The Police, investigates homicides, abuses against others, violent acts, proposes remedies consistent with developing self-empathic and empathic behaviors among perpetrators.

The Military, manages dangerous and hazardous materials, search and rescue, participatory and supportive roles in community development, infrastructure, exploration, research, scientific and technological activities. (Star Trek?)

Other disciplined organized services:

Fire & Rescue, Trauma, Ambulatory and Emergency Services

E. How-To's

What is here is but one way

of the how-to's

and there may be many

and yet undiscovered ways.

How To Build Self-Empathy

Self-empathy, knowing and understanding yourself, your feelings, why you do or don't do, what drives you, the feelings you are chasing when you want something, the feelings you are chasing when seeking experiences. The ability to also be able to listen and respond to your mind and body, especially in how your mind and body reacts to certain foods, drinks, smells, air quality, sounds, lighting, and other stimuli, including interactions with other people, other life (animals/pets, plant life, etc.)

Feelings are your internal guide.

Feelings Chasing

1. List what you want, what you seek.

2. For each, what feeling are you really chasing?

3. For each, do you expect to achieve it?

4. For each, is it the right thing to want or seek?

How To Understand What Others Say

About Your 'Work' and You

You are not what you've achieved or failed.

You are the how, the process, the actions reflecting you,

but only at that moment in time,

not what it produced whether in failure or success.

You may have created or contributed to certain works,

but the works are not you, you are not the works.

When you identify with your work as one and the same as who you are, it makes you vulnerable to allowing judgments on your work to be a judgment, and therefore, an insult, on you. You take it personally, regardless, and you are then not open to improving or changing or redoing or letting others work on your work.

So, when others judge your work, it is not about you;

it is about the work in relation to their perception

in context relevant at that moment to them.

How To Build Empathy

Empathy, the ability to feel what others feel,

to have regard and considerateness of others,

to want the highest liberty for every individual.

Teach Someone Something You Don't Know

1. Choose the subject you don't know about.

2. While learning that new subject,

consider who you are teaching it to

and understand them so as to figure out

how they will best learn the subject from you, openly.

How To Interconnect With Your Community

Coordinate, cooperate & collaborate

Divergent thinking & parallel thinking

Dependent-Independent-Interdependent Cycle

Coordinate, relate, align in consideration of others' life with consideration of your life.

Cooperate, work with others, show up, participate, contribute, give time, energy, abilities & knowledge.

Collaborate, create, design and plan with others aligned with your passion, your purpose.

Divergent thinking, where there's always

more than one answer, more than one way.

(Not reliance on only convergent thinking where there's only one solution or only one way of doing things--creating an argumentative state, fighting for one way over other likelihoods.)

• Practice thinking of the many ways to use a paper clip.

Parallel Thinking allows conflicting thoughts to coexist and evolve. (Not reliance on adversarial thinking.)

• Look for "Six Thinking Hats".

The six hats method is effective and useful

   to resolve or to brainstorm.

Dependent-Independent-Interdependent Cycle

We each go through this cycle

as a baby, an adult, and middle age.

For most every new endeavor, new learning,

we need to purposely repeat this cycle, after cycle:

dependent on others, open, flexible and absorbent; (In the old ways, seen as a weakness)

independent, forging uniquely, building on others; (In the old ways, highly respected, but seen as a competitive threat)

interdependent, open sharing, showing, and doing together. (In the old ways, also seen as a weakness)

(Not forcing others or always stuck in independent isolation, relying on no one else, where you do or fail.)

Go through the cycle when taking on or mastering

something new.

learn-do-teach > learn-do-teach > ... again and again.

How To Succeed/Achieve In Any Endeavor

1. Nurture your passion

Passion feeds the drive to never giving up.

2. Never give up. Use divergent thinking and

parallel thinking on obstacles or roadblocks,

and to renew your plan every now and then.

3. Build greater and greater self-empathy, which can

then intensify the starter: your passion. Repeat 1.

Self-empathy > your feelings > your passion > your purpose > you then seek greater mastery of skills & abilities > self-dignity

> self-confidence > trust in self >> to never giving up.

F. Scenario One

When that one day is a notable day, a chosen day.

"So many stopped using money that day,

so many stopped exchanging in any way,

that financial-economic forces

instantly became defunct.

A collapse that did not turn into a depression.

Instead of economic collapse distressing life,

its demise freed up life.

All goods and resources

became part of the commons.

With empathy, you asked and took what you wanted,

you asked and borrowed what you needed,

you used, returned, recycled or shared.

You build, make, grow and give,

you do because you want to,

not because of sense of responsibility.

In responsibility, you stress and resent.

Instead, do by your passion, your purpose

with self-empathy and empathy.

Let empathic behaviors replace the sense of

forced responsibility.

You care because you have a connection.

You empathize, you love, be loved,

you are open to be let to live,

and you are open to let others live their way.

Live and let live.

Let them be, those who hoard.

Give them more, and help them.

What can they do with so much?

It just takes up their space.

It's just more stress to guard their hoard.

Perishables would rot on them.

Even more stress to deal with

waste, malodors, pests and filth.

As they see that hoarding is futile,

they may gradually adjust,

or seek behavioral help.

If things get out of hand,

if it affects life, others, and nature,

others may interfere,

by loved ones first,

by experts as needed,

by police as last resort, but in empathy.

Let them be, the proprietors of shops.

They may fear 'losing it all'.

They may demand a means of exchange.

They may meter out their stock of stuff.

As they see that constraints are futile,

when they can continue to fill their shops,

as some suppliers have not stopped operating,

and local sources become new suppliers,

they may gradually adjust,

or seek help for the shop's potential:

as cooperative location of tools to share,

local place to produce things (tooling, 3D printing),

or a local point of access for wants and needs.

Misplacement and Misuse of Scientific Proof

Science is a powerful tool. It is a tool for good, for understanding and for advancements, but

science in the recent modern age,

has become a tool for manipulation.

The scientist is not the same as the science.

Scientists are humans, they are people,

so power, influence and control affect them

where they can mix science with ownership and money

and manipulate for a desired outcome,

not the objective outcome that's expected

of scientists doing good science.

Scientific proof, therefore, even with peer-review,

are subject to agenda, ulterior motive, funding source, sponsorship source, conditionalities, job security, job tenure, budget and funds attraction quotas, career making, credibility enhancements, embarrassment elimination, and monetary, accounting and investment priority overrides.

There is still good science being done,

but its manipulation is becoming too much

at the expense of others,

debasing, corrupting and polluting humanity and life

or believing that it enhances life for the returns generated

in gains and profits.

Loyalty is the main requisite in leadership-over-others.

Blind loyalty is the ultimate for leaders-over-others

to assure their power, influence and control.

How much do you consider yourself conditioned

to the old ways?

Not at all? Somewhat? Very much so? Mortally so?

How much do you consider yourself rigid

and inflexible to the next era?

As stiff as a dried out branch? As adaptable as any could be?

Already began shifting living towards it?

While transitioning away from the old ways,

and if political systems are ready to change instead of vanish,

then tell the persisting representatives

that they are not in charge

that their purpose now is,

through self-empathy and empathy above all else,

transparently and openly,

to facilitate and mediate

the transition away from the old ways

for the greatest individual freedom

for all communities to thrive and advance in peace

for self-empathy and empathy.

Why Self-Empathy & Empathy?

By better understanding yourself

you become a better part of the world

or at the very least, not affect it badly,

to do by your own understanding of yourself,

that may contribute to society,

and if not contribute, at least lets society go on

in peaceful thriving.

And to prevent or minimize the apathy

perpetrated on children who grow up

wanting something, either justice or vengeance,

perhaps not on the perpetrators, but on society.

Self-Empathy & Empathy Above All Else

For Individual Freedom & Liberty

"the power or right to act, speak or think

as one wants without hindrance or restraint"

"absence of restraint or compulsion"

"the state of being free

from oppressive restrictions"

"power to choose"

"release from slavery, servitude, [undue] labor"

Without self-empathy and empathy,

freedom is abused, misused and distorted

for self-first purposes at the expense of others.

Without self-empathy and empathy,

apathetic, sociopathic and psychopathic behaviors

go without balance, without counteractions,

continuing to take advantage of others

continuing to exploit circumstances

affecting others to react badly and

in detriment to yet others.

And people will then continue to confuse

the freedom to do unto others, whether in defense or not,

with the freedom of individuals to

peaceably and healthfully thrive.

So, without self-empathy and empathy,

this would necessitate external regulations to enforce

from without, the difference between right & wrong.

Genuine individual freedom & liberty

require self-empathy & empathy to be the core of society.

Suffering will not disappear,

for there will always be loss, failures, catastrophes,

all contributing to the depth and experience of life.

Let go.

Open up.

Be in happiness.

Do in happiness.

Otherwise, if conditional happiness,

where you have decided that

you'll be happy when achieve this or that,

or when this or that happens,

you have then set yourself up

to delay being happy, purposely or not,

until it occurs.

And when you do achieve your goal,

you have only short-lived happiness.

Then you continually have to set up another goal

where you unknowingly condition your happiness

to achieving your goal.

Be in happiness, now.

Do in happiness, now.

Let go.

Open to it.

Connect to self.

Connect to others.
